What is Assistive Technology?
For NDIS purposes, AT refers to any device, equipment or system that allows a participant to perform tasks they may otherwise be unable to do, or increases the ease or safety with which tasks can be performed.
This list isn’t exhaustive, but AT can include: AT for household, personal care and safety, aids for dressing, specialised furniture, bathroom and toilet equipment, alarms, and communication and information equipment (including communication apps, text to speech devices, keyboard and mouse adaptations, communication equipment repairs, customized tablets and reading apps and equipment with speech output).
