ACMI announces four relaxed summer events

ACMI will host four relaxed events this summer for autistic people with sensory sensitivities.
ACMI’s Screen World exhibit will offer three relaxed visits on 10 &19 Jan and 16 Feb, from 9am to 10am. Tickets are free, but bookings are required and can be made through the ACMI website.
The relaxed visits have reduced noise and light stimulation, and a dedicated quiet zone. The exhibition explores the magic of the moving image with ACMI’s permanent collection of film, television, video games, virtual reality and digital art.
ACMI will also host a relaxed session of their Minecraft Building Challenge on 16 Jan, from 10am to 4pm. It is a paid event, with tickets starting at $115 for members.
The Minecraft Building Challenge is a custom one-day workshop designed for autistic children with sensory sensitivities to work both independently and together to complete a series of exciting challenges. The workshop features lower numbers of attendees and a specialized structure.
The workshop is about connecting fans of this game in a positive social environment, allowing them to explore, challenge themselves and each other with help from our Minecraft experts.

Parents do not need to attend the workshop – children are fully supervised at all times. Children will need to bring a packed lunch, as this is not provided in the cost of the workshop. In the event of cancellation, ticket holders are notified directly and a full refund is provided. Recommended for kids and teens aged 8-14.
