2020 Research Projects

Amaze has been asked to share the below research projects. If you have any questions please contact the individual project organisations directly.

This survey is part of a larger Autism Cooperative Research Centre project about middle years learners (aged 9–16 years) on the autism spectrum (ASD) and with complex needs who go to school in rural, remote, Indigenous, and alternate education settings.

This includes autism specialist schools, distance education, home education, Montessori and Steiner schools, and flexible learning options. We also want to learn about what helps students on the spectrum who attend mainstream school in regional, rural, or remote areas.

The survey intends to capture the views of educators, parents, caregivers, specialists, and students about:

  • Why families choose alternate education settings?
  • What role your child plays in the decision-making process?
  • What works well in alternate education settings?
  • What additional help and support would benefit the systems currently in alternate education settings?
  • How this information can be used to inform work in traditional mainstream settings?

Your answers will help inform more inclusive and supportive approaches to students on the autism spectrum more broadly.

If you have any questions about this study please email [email protected]
or contact the Project Leader, Beth Saggers, by phone on (07) 3138 9615.

This survey only takes 5-10 minutes and is open to autistic people aged 18-25 years and living in Victoria, Australia.

The first 100 people who complete the survey will receive a $5 Woolworths gift voucher.

Once the Ccoronavirus restrictions finish, Melbourne University will be offering music workshops as a way for young people to get together and have fun. We need your help to make sure the music activities meet your needs and expectations, and so tell us what you think in this online survey.
