Research shows that autistic students have the worst educational outcomes of any students with a disability. An alarming 97% face difficulties in their education and 56% say they’ve been treated unfairly. It was also found that 35% of autistic students do not complete Year 10 or above.

It is evident that classrooms need to be more inclusive for autistic students to ensure improved educational outcomes.

Our 3-hour training session will focus on what school is like for an autistic person, and how teachers and schools can be more inclusive. The session can also be tailored to suit primary or secondary teachers. By the end of the session, teachers will:

  • Find out about autism
  • Explore different ways autistic students may think and process information, and how you can support their learning
  • Learn practical ways you can support autistic students in the classroom and beyond

Autism in the Classroom meets APST Standards 1.5, 1.6, 3.1, 3.3, 3.5, 3.7, 4.1, 7.3.
