Amaze welcomes the announcement today by the Coalition that they will develop a National Autism Strategy if re-elected.
This means both the ALP and Coalition have now committed to a National Autism Strategy.
A National Autism Strategy is something that Amaze, the Australian Autism Alliance, Autistic people, their families, and our many allies have campaigned for tirelessly.
This commitment is a win for our community and an opportunity to create real change that will improve the lives of Autistic people in Australia. Autism is not a partisan issue, and we welcome this commitment to a National Autism Strategy by both major parties.
A coherent national approach is pivotal to building inclusion and advancement for our community. We are pleased to note the commitment to increasing community understanding of autism and to access to quality, evidence-based information about autism for autistic people, their families, and professionals in autism-related sectors.
We are also pleased to see the commitment of $1.3 million towards the Autism Cooperative Research Centre.
