As part of the Victorian Government’s Disability Inclusion reforms, Disability Inclusion Transition Funding arrangements are now in place.
Disability Inclusion is the new strengths-based approach to supporting students with disability in Victorian Government Schools. These reforms introduce a new tiered funding model and Disability Inclusion Profile for students with disability.
The Disability Inclusion Transition Funding is being provided by the Victorian Government to support students and families with the transition from the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) to the new Disability Inclusion approach.
The Transition Funding makes sure that schools receive either same amount of student-level funding or more to support students’ transition from the PSD to Disability Inclusion. It is applied automatically through the Disability Inclusion Profile process, so schools and families do not need to complete any additional documentation.
For more information and how Disability Inclusion Transition Funding applies to your child’s circumstances, please contact your school principal.
If you are unfamiliar with the Disability Inclusion Profile, it is a profile for your child with disability that is developed with their school and family. The profile is a written description of your child’s strengths and needs at school. It is a strengths-based process to help schools and families identify:
Key people who understand your child’s education and support needs will complete the profile together, and a facilitator will help schools and families work through the profile together.
Disability Inclusion is being introduced in Victorian government schools over five years from 2021 to 2025. When a school begins Disability Inclusion depends on the Local Government Area (LGA) they are in. The Victorian Government will review Disability Inclusion Transition Funding for schools after 2024.
More information about Disability Inclusion is available on the Victorian Government Website.
